Aanbrengen van fungiciden op bloembollen door schuimen en coaten : Werkpakket 2 van Het Nieuwe Verwerken Bloembollen
Flower bulbs are treated with fungicides before planting to protect them against fungal diseases. When applying fungicides, methods with a minimum of residues are sought. Foaming and coating seem to be the most suitable for this. In addition, it is important to keep the fungicides with the bulbs after application in order to ensure proper functioning. Also, the agents should not come loose with the skins and scales of the bulb, in order to prevent emission via dust and wind. For this purpose, Wageningen University & Research and partners examined a few adhesives and sticking agents within the project ‘Het Nieuwe Verwerken van Bloembollen’. Wetting with water shortly before planting, appeared to work very well against the loss of hyacinths skins. Coating is a new and interesting method for applying fungicides to bulbs. It is already widely used in the seed industry. For bulbs, it has been established that coating has a significant effect on reducing loose scales and skins in tulips and especially hyacinths.
