Denkkader licht : Naar een effectief gebruik van LED belichting in de glastuinbouw

Over the past 20 years, electricity consumption in greenhouse horticulture has increased rapidly due to increasing areas of lighted cultivation and installed capacity. Replacing the current HPS lamps by LED lighting, which are more efficient in converting electricity into light can reduce the electricity consumption. LED lighting offers new perspectives for the control of crop growth, morphology and development since the light spectrum can be adjusted to the demand of the crop. In the project “Conceptual framework on light” we made an inventory and analysis of existing knowledge, test results and experiences in practice to contribute to the knowledge required to make better use of the possibilities of LED lighting in greenhouse horticulture. Not only the effects on crop, but also the plant resistance and the behavior of natural enemies have been looked at. This project does not provide standard lighting recipes, but provides a framework for understanding why certain effects occur and how knowledge per crop needs to be built up in order to achieve the most effective lighting strategies.
