Inventarisatie stadiumonderzoek Cymbidium: Consultancy-onderzoek

Abstract UK Information is collected about the development of axillary buds of Cymbidium and at different times growing points of some axillary buds were studied microscopically. An undifferentiated growing point is flat and the leaves are opposite. At this stage it is not possible to see whether it will develop into a new shoot or into a flower stalk. In a reproductive bud the meristematic tissue becomes elongated and bracts with flowers are formed around the growing point at an angle of 144 degrees. In axillary buds smaller than 3.5 cm in April, May and November 2009 and February, March, April and May 2010 only undifferentiated growing points were found. In one axillary bud of approximately 4 cm long the development of a flower stalk was clearly visible. As axillary buds are 4 cm long, growers can almost see whether it will be a generative or vegetative bud without preparation.
