Actief bodembeheer de Kempen; het raamplan ABdK wetenschappelijk getoetst

In 1997, the Technische Commissie Bodembescherming (Soil Protection Technical Committee) advised the Ministry of Housing, Regional Development and the Environment to implement active soil management in de Kempen in relation to zinc and cadmium contamination. The Actief Bodembeheer de Kempen (ABdK) (Active Soil Management in de Kempen) project was initiated. The description of the implementation package within the AbdK project was based on various strategic assumptions, several of which were regarded as having insufficient scientific grounding. To improve this situation, the project reported on here was started in order to test these strategic assumptions scientifically. A secondary aim was to ascertain how this grounding, if regarded as necessary, can be improved within the preconditions of the AbdK project. Subsequent to consultations with third parties, the authors of this report regard additional scientific grounding, particularly in the area of the application of knowledge relating to the biochemical behaviour of zinc, lead and cadmium in the relevant environmental compartments, as necessary
