Functional consequences and maintenance of vegetative incompatibility in fungal populations
This chapter reviews general functional consequences of vegetative(in)compatibility in fungal populations and considers the question of towhat extent these functional aspects may be responsible for the selectivemaintenance of the observed high levels of incompatibility. Special attentionwill be paid to the role of vegetative (in)compatibility in pathogenic fungi,especially in relation to biological control.
