Investigación sobre el grado de digestión de lodos provenientes de fosas sépticas

Research on the extent of digestion of sludge from septic tanks was conducted between November 2009 to March 2010. 11 spot samples were taken from septic tanks located mostly in Guatemala City and surrounding areas. The average degree of digestion of sludge was found in 62,40% of total solids (TS) with a standard deviation of 17,52% ST. The breadth of the extent of digestion of sludge from septic tank is found from very low values of 37,26% of ST to very high as 94, 98% of ST. Only 45% of the samples were within the estimated range for digested primary sludge. A positive correlation was found between the content of total solids and settled solids content for each sample analyzed mud. Prior to the septic sludge treatment will be essential to use an anaerobic digester to stabilize the sludge still raw from domestic septic tanks sampled, and thus prevent odor and reduce the potential for putrefaction
