In recent decades, our country has evolved, achieving higher economic, political and social development, which in turn causes its inhabitants live in an accelerated, leaving in second term family life; the basic necessities were increasing in price, the cultural level was rising and the income of the parent became insufficient, was how the woman became aware, giving way to working women, there are a large number of professional women high positions, having to alternate these activities with the housework and childcare. This role of Father and Mother life, coupled with the loss of values, idioms and acquired stereotypes that confuse freedom with libertinism; often affect the obligations undertaken when parents forget, is to affect family disintegration, which mainly affects children. That is why the main effects of family breakdown are investigated in the academic performance of students of the Institute of Basic Education Cooperative Cuyotenango, Suchitepequez.
