Fourth All-India Educational Survey

This is the fourth in the series of important studies on the educational situation in India, the first having been published in 1957. It covers the entire education system in all its complexity and makes comparisons with the foregoing studies. The chapter dealing with secondary education describes the number of these schools throughout the country, taking into consideration the structure of Indian society. It also covers the attendance rate in the different states during secondary education by sex, by social class, etc. (BULL 240/1)
