Perception studies and the use of visual materials in non-formal education in developing countries

This paper on perception studies and use of visual materials in nonformal education presents and discusses four different approaches. The first is Maguerez's method which combines literacy with vocational training. The second approach, taken by UNESCO, consists of guidelines for developing literacy methods adapted to the socio-cultural environment. In the third approach, taken by CREFAL, visual aids are considered as basic material for discussion and dialogue. Central to the fourth approach is the conflict situation of the individual within society. This method has been developed by Freire
