Starting with a general view of the situation of women in Japanese society past and present, this report has four other main sections: policies and programmes regarding the education, training and employment of women, causes obliging women workers to interrupt professional activities, lifelong education for women workers, resumption of interrupted professional activities and change of career. The document is completed by several statistical tables and diagrams
