The Aim of lifelong integrated education, pt. II
Rapid social change and technological advancement in Japan involve a reexamination of education from the perspective of practical experiences in everyday life and a process originating in the distant past and stretching into the future - Crucial educational goals are self actualization and development of a humane society. This requires emphasis on the role of women, the recognition of lifelong education, and the importance of out of school education. Learning occurs in the family, in social relations, and in interactions with the natural environment. The approach gives new emphasis to adult education and stresses the importance of the parent role. These principles are related to the Buddhists conception of the laws of nature as the principal source of education.
