Learner-centered training for learner-centered programs: a workshop in materials and curriculum development for nonformal educators

This workshop of inservice teacher education of nonformal and adult educators in Thailand was based on strong participant involvement to familiarize adult educators with educational methods which have a learner-centered orientation - Learner-centered methods aim at developing self-reliance and critical thinking in people so as to enable them to understand their own environment and to introduce changes. They are also directed at adult learning needs. The new techniques of the workshop consisted in involving participants in activity learning and problem solving through group discussion, role playing and development of guidelines for new instructional materials preparation.
