Action learning: student community service projects

This booklet deals with the concept of activity learning in USA which involves the blending of community education with existing school systems through various projects such as action programmes (community) - The premise of 'action learning' is that the twelve years spent in primary and secondary schools are too long a period of isolation from the practical world outside the school system. Hence in our current period of great social change various types of educational reform should be undertaken which will stress self actualization by means of school community cooperation. This booklet traces the programme planning, implementation and programme evaluation of school community programmes and examines one such project in detail.
