To build a college: NTTC, the first year

Progress report on first year of the National Teacher Training College in Lesotho opened in April 1975, replacing a number of smaller teachers colleges - Its initial intake was 78 resident students grouped for preservice teacher education as primary school teachers or junior secondary school teachers. NTTC will also undertake inservice teacher education. International personnel from several agencies provide support and advice to the national staff under UNESCO coordination, multilateral aid has come from UNDP and individual Member States. Instructional programmes include microteaching, self instructional programmes, student prepared lesson plans for use during internship programmes, a faculty instructional improvement system, and practicums. For continuous student evaluation purposes, a multiple choice tests bank is being built up. The report gives details of teacher education curriculum in all main subjects of study.
