'Forgotten people': report of the Conference

Conference report on educational provision for disadvantaged groups in Western Europe - Educational disadvantagement is prevalent in four identified adult education target groups: 1) those in need of adult basic education, including illiterate adults, 2) the socially disadvantaged in urban areas, 3) industrial workers, and 4) foreign workers. The keynote paper also provides a general analysis of motivational effects of earlier educational failure among clientèle members, and of current trends that bear on programme planning in this field. Further papers study non-participation factors, literacy campaigns, the initiation of participative lifelong education methods, and employees' education.
