Development of curriculum. Facilitating teacher-education on the basis of the principles of lifelong education. An assignment of UNESCO Institute for Education, Hamburg

This is a report of a teachers colleges in India, aimed at developing a teacher education curriculum implementing and diffusing the concept of lifelong education, within a project initiated by UIEH - The objectives were: to instruct teacher educators in the principles and practice of lifelong education, to prepare curriculum on lifelong education as an independent subject and to adapt existing syllabuses to the new concept, to prepare new teaching methods and testing programmes, to evaluate the effect of the new concept on teacher educators and students. The methods employed and the results of the project are described and, where possible, tabulated. Despite the limitations of time and existing university requirements, students and staff reacted favourably to the innovations.
