Recurrent education in the State of New York

The report describes present higher education in New York State, taken as typical of USA, then proceeds to examine recurrent education projects in this area - The demand for higher education is rapidly increasing, new educational organization is required to meet high costs and to provide lifelong education for adults who are at present often excluded. Recurrent education involves individualized curriculum, flexible timetabling and location, utilization of life experience, intermittent learning and public acceptance of certificates granted. Example projects from the spheres of general education, technical education and professional education illustrate the extent to which these requirements are met. Possible future developments and problems are briefly considered.
