Considerations on the development of permanent education

Based on educational research at the Centre Universitaire de Coopération Economique et Sociale and the Institut National pour la Formation des Adultes, this document shows possible developments in lifelong education in France - Part I shows the social and functional benefits of lifelong education, the need for teaching methods adapted to the educational needs of adult students, the need to relate vocational education to daily life, the necessity of training also top level personnel. It describes adult education programmes run by the above organizations in their investigation of youth and adult education as part of a lifelong process. Part II examines research undertaken at the 'CUCES-INFA' complex in 1966-67. Part III views adult learning as a process of socialization and examines its permanence.
