Reform of upper secondary education in Norway

The pamphlet describes the educational reform of upper secondary education in Norway - Experiments with the new School of Further Education started in 1969 under the auspices of the National Council for Innovation in Education. A law defining the structure of secondary education was passed in 1974. Background of the reform was a need for equal education and improvement of secondary school distribution. A necessity was also felt to cater for the increased enrolment of students in gymnasium and vocational schools and to reevaluate admission qualifications to the universities. The new system, which integrates gymnasium and vocational secondary schools provides one or two-year basic courses and one-year additional courses.
