Development of public education in the German Democratic Republic

Official report from German DR for 1973 ICE on educational organization and current educational policies - educational goals embrace the achievement of equal education. The network of nursery schools has been expanded, primary schools and secondary schools function as 10-year comprehensive polytechnical schools, the curriculum of the latter being described. In vocational education scientific theory is stressed, new structures for higher education have been introduced. The report emphasizes the importance of after school activities, youth organizations and family school relationship as integral parts of the educational system. The last chapters deal with teachers and educational research. Diagrams show the structure of the school system
