Celebration of the thousand-year existence of the Shâhnâmè (Book of Kings), composed by Ferdowsi, the Iranian epic poet

Executive Board paper concerning a proposal submitted by the Permanent Delegate of the Islamic Republic of Iran in a letter to the Chairman of the Board dated 6 October 1988, concerning the Shâhnâmè, one of the most outstanding works of Persian literature, containing legendary and historical episodes and describing the splendour of ancient Persia, which, it is stated, has had a remarkable influence on world literature, and was translated into French in 1878, and into English, in 1967
