For the establishment of the Nubia Museum in Aswan and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Cairo; appeal by Amadou-Mahtar M'Bow, Director-General of UNESCO

Speech calling for international co-operation in the establishment of the Nubia Museum in Aswan and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Cairo, the first will house some of the most outstanding items discovered in the course of the International Campaign to Save the Monuments of Nubia launched twenty years ago by UNESCO, and the second will present, in a setting designed in accordance with the latest museological standards, exhibits reflecting the main achievements of the prehistoric, Pharaonic, Greco-Roman, Coptic and Muslim eras, all of which form the many and varied facets of Egyptian identity
