Address by Amadou-Mahtar M'Bow, Director-General of UNESCO, at the inauguration of the second session of the Executive Committee of the International Campaign for the Establishment of the Nubia Museum in Aswan and the new National Museum of Egyptian Antiquities in Cairo; Cairo, 1 March 1982

Speech concerning the Nubia Museum, Aswan, and the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization, Cairo, for whose establishment the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt has requested UNESCO's assistance, the first of these museums will house some of the most outstanding items discovered during the International Campaign to Save the Monuments of Nubia, whilst the second will provide a comprehensive integrated view of elements stretching from pre-history through the known five thousand years of Egypt's history right up to the latest achievements in contemporary art
