Address by Amadou-Mahtar M'Bow, Director-General of UNESCO, at the opening of the meeting of the International Jury for the UNESCO Prize for Peace Education

Speech referring to the acceptance by the Executive Board at its 110th session of an offer from the Japan Shipbuilding Industry Foundation to finance the UNESCO Prize for Peace Education and the activities of the International Jury responsible for awarding it, which Jury is also to serve as the International Commission for Peace in the Minds of Men, recalls the purpose of this prize, which is to reward particularly outstanding examples of activity designed to alert public opinion and mobilize consciences in the cause of peace
