Literacy in the world since the (1965) Tehran conference: shortcomings, achievements, tendencies

Meeting paper dealing with illiteracy in the world from 1965-1975, and literacy programmes attempting to combat it - provides a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the subject and describes socio-economic factors relating to literacy, stressing community participation in social, economic and political life, discusses literacy methodology, with reference to use of the mass media, considers the training and selection of literacy workers, concludes with a discussion of the contribution of international cooperation, making mention of the Experimental World Literacy Programme, includes educational statistics
