Meeting paper presenting a summary of two case study reports, prepared by France, and Finland and Sweden, on problems arising from labour migration, especially those of the social adjustment, cultural identity and migrant education of foreign workers in Europe - notes such identical phenomena as low academic achievement, low social status, cultural isolation of the minority group, and limited opportunities for community participation, outlines steps being taken to help immigrants in France, including social work for African workers, experimental training courses, cultural activities and the education of women, summarizes the situation of Finnish immigrants in Sweden, referring especially to cultural assimilation and attitudes to their mother tongue, Finnish, examines factors of social psychology affecting the learning process of minority group school children in language teaching classes, concludes that bilingualism in pre-school education should be developed in order to give children equal access to education
