Statement by Mr. Abdoulie Janneh at the 2010 KOAFEC ministerial conference

Statement by Mr. Abdoulie Janneh at the 2010 KOAFEC Ministerial Conference. Mr. Janneh, on his remarks highlighted that, Africa’s abiding interest is development underpinned by progress in the areas of peace, security and governance and we continue to be motivated by our collective desire to create prosperous populations and thriving economies. This objective has been captured in the strategic vision of the African Union, which seeks to promote the long-term development of Africa within the framework of shared values. The continent continues to grapple with constraints such as small, fragmented economies, widespread poverty, limited diversification, poor infrastructure, weak human resource capabilities and very little utilization of science, technology and innovation. Africa welcomes the desire of its Korean partners to support its development efforts including by accompanying the efforts by the African Development Bank under the able leadership of my good friend, Mr. Donald Kaberuka to provide the required financial resources to attain this objective.
