Modalities for strengthening capacities of gender initatives and sub-regional cooperation in eastern Africa
This paper presents an overview of gender initiatives taking place in Eastern Africa and implementations with regard to the Regional and Global Platforms for Action. In response to commitments made at the Fourth World Conference on Women, several initiatives and different mechanisms are being put into place to achieve specified targets and objectives. The implementers/facilitators include, national government machinery, non governmental organizations, UN agencies and other bi-lateral development partners.
