Intra-African trade key to continent’s economic growth, says Mauritian minister at ICE 2018

The 24 Session of the Inter Governmental Committee of Experts (ICE) of Southern Africa opened in Mauritius Tuesday with an impassioned plea from Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade Minister of Mauritius, Mr. Seetanah Lutchmeenaraido, for Africa to unite and work together as one if it is to bring inclusive development to its people. Mauritius is the new chair of the Inter-Governmental Committee of Experts (ICE) of Southern Africa. Zimbabwe was the immediate former Chair that handed over to Mauritius. The 2018 ICE is being held under the theme; ‘The Blue Economy, Inclusive Industrialization and Economic Development in Southern Africa’ with participants in the next four days focusing their discussions on opportunities and challenges presented by the blue economy as a strategic resource that can anchor development in the region and help address poverty, inequality and unemployment.
