The third world forum and the new international economic order:what does famine in Africa mean
In making an assessment of the disastrous famine which has scourged the Sahel region of Africa from the Atlantic to the Indian Ocean between 1965 and 1970, one cannot avoid making an indictment of an unjust capitalist system under which, through the profit motive, the driving force of production is based on the exploitation of man by man. Furthermore, such an indictment comes at a precise historical moment in the process of capitalist development when a growing internationalization of foreign interests in Africa is replacing the earlier system of bilateral relations with the ex-colonial power.
