First African training course on institutional treatment of juvenile offenders

In our first background lecture we considered the policy and activities of the UN in the field of Prevention of Crime and Treatment of Offenders; and we discussed the highlights of various practical actions taken by the U.N. in the implementation of its policies - through regional meetings, conferences and seminars; through direct assistance to governments in the form of experts, fellowships and scholarships, with the object of improving local services, institutions and practices. And, in particular, we examined the main conclusions and recommendations of the two UN. World Congresses on Prevention of prime and Treatment of Offenders, as they affected prevention and treatment of juvenile delinquency and organization and administration of national services.
