The Consultative Meeting between the Government of the Republic of Kenya, ECA/MULPOC, ECA/ATC and ESAMI was held in Nairobi, Kenya from 23rd - 27th May 1983. The meeting first considered the objectives and activities of ESAMI and the proposed Eastern and Southern Africa Trade Promotion and Training center with the view of determining whether there were any risks involved in having the two institutions duplicate their activities. It was evident from the objectives of ESMU that its objectives and constitution do not cater for training in the fields of trade promotion and marketing.
