Experts, Senior officials debate economic partnership agreement studies

A meeting of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) and the group of Eastern and Southern Africa (ESA) countries discussing the Economic Partnership Agreement for Eastern and Southern Africa concluded that more work is needed before countries can conclude the EPA agreement under negotiation. The meeting, which brought together experts and officials from the two regions met on 19-20 July in Lusaka Zambia to consider the findings of impact assessment studies done by the COMESA Secretariat and the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) on 11 national Economic Partnership Agreements.
