This opening statement delivered by Ms. Hodane Youssouf, APRM focal point, capacity development division United Nations Economic Commission for Africa at the Technical workshop on Harmonizing the APRM plan of Action of Lesotho with the National strategic development plan. Ms. Youssouf, on her remarks highlighted that, UNECA, in partnership with the APRM Secretariat, has since the inception of the mechanism collaborated with African governments, civil society organizations and Pan-African institutions, to provide highly interactive workshops and training sessions that facilitate discussions and the exchange of challenges, best practices and lessons learned on the technical, organizational, methodological, research, monitoring issues associated with the implementation of the APRM. The focus of this workshop will be the revitalization of the APR mechanism, building on the progress achieved so far in Lesotho, peer learning through presenting the experiences of other APRM countries on the harmonization of NPoA with national plans and to explore how Lesotho can integrate its APRM NPoA into its national planning processes and in particular the NSDP.
