Mr. Janneh, on his remarks highlighted that, The emphasis of the Beijing Platform for Action was not only on achieving equality, women’s political and economic empowerment and eliminating discrimination, but also on the integration of women as full and equal partners in all policies and decision making processes. Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), and 27 countries have now ratified the African Charter on the Human and People’s Rights. Gender based violence is still an area of great concern.
