This Closing Remarks delivered by Mr. Abdoulie Janneh, UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of ECA at the meeting of Committee of Experts. Mr. Janneh, on his remarks highlighted that, A good amount of the credit for this goes to the Chair and members of the Bureau of the Committee of Experts for the efficient conduct of the meeting. Your constructive and uninhibited debates on the continent’s challenges have yielded potential ideas, which when combined with the best practices shared here can translate into the accelerated economic growth, diversification and transformation, job creation, poverty eradication, and sustainable development that we so eagerly yearn for. However, for this to happen, we must all resolve to apply and implement its outcomes. The issues of what economic and political systems are the best for economic development were also thoroughly discussed and from the responses of the industrialized, market-based economies to the economic and financial crisis – the question of regulating or intervening in the market is no longer asked.
