Report on demographic survey of federal public servants in Lagos
This report is a general analysis of data obtained from a demographic survey of Nigerian Federal Public Servants' households conducted in March 1977. It was the first in a series of five surveys undertaken at the request of the Federal Military Government through the Federal Capital Development Authority. The survey was intended to obtain information on the size and characteristics of Public Servants and their households as an aid to the planning of the new capital city, especially with respect to the phasing of the movement of the public servants and the provision of housing, educational and other facilities, The field enumeration was planned to last from 14 to 29 March 1977, and the questionnaires were distributed to the different divisions or sections of each Federal Government establishment during that period. The retrieval of the questionnaires started on the 29th March 1977 and lasted for about a month
