Notes on the agenda items

The first and so far the only meeting on African population organized by the United Nations was the seminar on population problems in Africa held in Cairo in 1962. Though this seminar covered a wide range of topics not all the countries were represented. Other meetings of African population have been organized, generally with the assistance of non-governmental organizations of which two deserve special mention the first African population conference, Ibadan 1966 and the seminar organized by the International planned parenthood Federation, Nairobi, 1967: both were widely attended but not all the countries were represented.
