United Nations transport and communications decade for Africa

The year 1984 marked the beginning of a new phase of the United Nations Transport and Communications Decade in Africa. The programme for this new phase was adopted by the fourth Conference of Ministers of Transport, Communications and Planning which was held in Conakry. Guinea, from 7 to 11 February. The ECA for its part had planned a highway maintenance seminar for French-speaking African countries in 1984. This seminar, which is being organized in collaboration with the World Bank, had to be postponed, for unavoidable reasons to 1985. ECA obtained funds for important activities whose will allow for rational development of transportations services during the second phase of the Decade.
