Report on the activities of the association of African trade promotion organizations (AATPO)
The Fifth Session of the General Assembly of the Association of African Trade Promotion Organizations (AATPO) did not take place until the end of March 1984, lack of a quorum having made it impossible for the Assembly to transact business as scheduled in September 1983. A notable implication of this unfortunate circumstance was that the Secretariat had but nine months in which to implement that part of the Association’s Work Programme which was to be implemented in 1984. The Secretariat presents in the sections that follow details of the paradoxical position of AATPO depicted in the preceding paragraphs, that is, a highly successful technical performance contrasted with the threat of collapse of the Association itself because of lack of financial support from the member states.
