Levels and characteristics of statistical data from the vital registration system of Ghana

Levels and characteristics of statistical data from the vital registration system of Ghana. Vital registration, like decennial population censuses is longer history in Chana, for the earliest known vital registration law in the country was passed in 1883. This was the Cemeteries Ordinance of 1383. This Ordinance was, however, public health oriented, for its main objective was to regulate the internment of human bodies in certain areas of the country, and the registration of deaths was essentially a side activity of the regulation of internments. In the Ghanaian situation where the levels of births and deaths registration is generally very low, the trend in the levels of reregistration is generally very low, the trend in the levels of registration are definitely a function of the registration efforts and not of the vital rates operative in the population.
