Infant and childhood mortality differentials in Sierra Leone presented by Herbert B. S. Kandeh, Lecturer, Niala University College. In his paper highlighted that the relation between infant and child mortality and various demographic, social, economic and environmental factors. The group of social, economic and environmental factors includes several characteristics of the mother such as her community of working up till age twelve, her type of marital union, her participation in cut side activities and her level of completed schooling. The household’s socio-economic status is revealed by the household’s ownership of certain consumer items and the educational status of both parents. The broad mechanism through which this group of factors affects infant and child mortality is related to the parent’s child care practices, the use or non-use of existing child health care facilities resides.
