Potential for and implications of industrial co-operation in the proposed economic community of central African states

The purpose of the study is to provide in the Central African subregion with a relatively clear picture of the qualitative implications of the proposed economic integration process on their development in general and their industrialization in particular. The ultimate aims of the community include the promotion and strengthening of integration of the economies of the member states with a view to establishing a subregional community and paving the way to ultimate creation of an African regional community as urged by the Lagos Plan of Action. The development objective of the integration process is to contribute towards the accelerated self-reliant and the self-sustaining economic development of the member states through the rapid growth of industry and inter-sectoral complementarities.
