Preparing Africa for the twenty-first century : agenda for the 1990's
This report provides the last six statements made by Professor Adebayo Adedeji to highly respected and august assemblies focusing on the development Agenda for Africa of the 1990s, which he noted, must be pursued and implemented vigorously, purposefully and relentlessly in order to prepare Africa for the 21st century. The Agenda goes beyond economics and are holistic in approach. This report is written to enable African and Non-African audiences to examine closely the noted proposals in an 4 integrated approach. The first statement focuses on the African development policy agenda, whilst the second focuses on security and stability for development and cooperation in Africa. The third is on restructuring African states and societies, the fourth on the political agenda of Africa and the fifth on integrating post-apartheid South Africa in to the African economy. Lastly, the final statement in on forging a new compact with the international community.
