Report by Eastern Africa Subregional Development Center (EA/SRDC-ECA)

The Eastern Subregional Development Center (EA/SRDC) was established as a result of the adoption of Commission Resolution 810 (XXX!), which had the aim of reinforcing ECA Multinational Programming and Operational Centers (MULPOCs). In addition to changing the name of MULPOCs, the resolution led to the geographical expansion of the area formerly covered by the Gisenyi MULPOC from three to thirteen member states (Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Comoros, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Madagascar, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, and Tanzania. These changes also included relocating the Center from Gisenyi to Kigali but due to the crisis in Rwanda and the Genocide in 1994, activities of the Center had been temporarily moved to Addis Ababa. Offices of the center formerly moved to Kigali in 1998.
