Export marketing, import management and procurement trade policy and Africa's future
Discussion of Trade Policy on a continental level as this brief paper intends to do, begins first and foremost by establishing the main framework within which the analysis is to be considered. With that kind of background is the need to first isolate a number of related important issues. Such an exercise has as a matter of course to bear in mind those other elements that fully appreciate, from the very outset, the peculiar African situation. Africa may have situations that at times are not easy to explain in matters of this kind. This analysis makes an attempt of focusing part of its attention on the African experience itself. Somehow one must have a cutoff point. Hence the analysis begins with the advent of political independence in the region.
