Population issues for ECA Member States during the 1990s

The current economic crisis in Africa is taking place in an environment characterized by rapid population growth rates, uneven population distribution, rapid rate of urbanization, massive unemployment, widening gap between the rich and the poor and consequent progressive pauperization of the population in spite of national programmes of social and economic development.
