Report of the sixth meeting of the conference of ministers of African least developed countries

The report considered under item (a) had reviewed overall socio-economic performances in African least developed countries, in particular the development of key sectors such as food and agriculture, industrial development and transport and communications and emphasized the continuing low growth rate (2.3 per cent) achieved in 1984-1985. The report attributed the growth rate to thepoor performance of the agricultural sector despite the recurrence of ram.Discussion of the report had focused on the updating of the second part of the document on country presentations in the light of recent statistics and information transmitted to the ECA and OAU secretariats.
