Influencia del pH del suelo sobre el desarrollo y producción de la piña tropical en Canarias. I. Fertilidad del suelo y nutrición mineral

A study was carried out of the effect of soil pH in the range 4.37 to 7.63 on the production of the tropical variety of pineapple Cayenne lissa, and 5.25 to 7.63 on the varieties Queen and Red Spanish grown in containers of 300 l. capacity and o 80 m2 area. The production of the variety Cayenne lissa was similar in plants cultivated at pH from 4.37 to 7.07. The variety Queen was more productive at pH 5.25, but the variety Red Spanish did not show production differences in plants cultivated at various pH. The effect of soil fertility and foliar nutrition was also studied, a positive correlation between the level of foliar N and production being found.
