Different treatment system on management of animal manure

The hog breeding sector in our country estimates the annual production of pig slurry around 25 million of TM. this huge development makes necessary of the environment impact of this compound. The research was conducted at the National Institute for Agricultural Research in Madrid. The objective was the evaluating of a pig slurry depuration system using an initial conventional physical treatment and electrochemical integrated in a unique process treatment. Contamination's parameter were evaluated during one year and preliminary results show that process would be a good alternative for treating these waste. Electrochemical treatment results gets a higher reduction on Chemical Oxygen Demand(COD), Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD), Total Solids (TS) and higher reduction on ammonium nitrogen (NH4+-N) nitrate nitrogen (NO3- -N) and nitrogen Kjeldahl (NK).
